To accomplish the vision and mission of the Foundation for the Protection of the Orphaned Child the collaboration and participation of people with different gifts are necessary.

 

For this reason a group of people have come together called Kingdom Partners. These "KEY" people in the name of the Foundation raise financial and material support. They also make contacts for the purpose of forming a network of supporters. Their success will enable the vision and plan for Funproni to be realized now and in the coming years.

 

The following is a list of plans in order of priorities:

 

ASSURED FOOD SUPPLY

One immediate need is to be assured of an adequate supply of food for the children… including the need to develop food production at Casa Bernabé.

 

SPECIALIZED STAFF TRAINING

We are often confronted with the problem of having people with a special heart for children who, when faced with handling emotional and psychological problems cannot effectively deal with them. Therefore it is very important that the workers receive professional training before, or as soon as, they begin to work with the children. Training must be never ending and include training to teach children with personal hygiene, food preparation, conflict resolution and how to live their faith.

 

EDUCATION AND TRAINING OF TEENAGERS

We are faced with a problem that many adolescents of 14 or 15 years of age and older have hardly mastered the first or second grades. When we equip them with a trade they are able at 18 to leave, but not being able to read and write they are not able to face life as a productive individual. We must be able to meet these needs.

 

FUNDRAISING - GUATEMALA AND THE WORLD

It is necessary to strengthen the fund raising efforts already in place in Guatemala and elsewhere. At present the monthly income is very low - not covering expenses. Again we need Kingdom Partners in this area.

 

PUBLICITY - LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL

Until this time very little work has been done with publicity…consequently very little is known about FUNPRONI in Guatemala or the world. Our desire is for people to become concerned about this work and spend time co-laboring with us for the kingdom.

 

INSURANCE

At present the Foundation has only fire insurance on the main building We need to obtain insurance to cover the staff and children in case of death or injury.

 

CONSTRUCTION

We have a need for engineers and architects to advise and council us with the drawing of plans and to help oversee the building projects. This is an area where Kingdom Partners raising funds would be of immeasurable benefit to us.

 

The Foundation for the Protection of the Orphaned Child has a large principle building, the first floor of which was completed about 12 years ago. Over the past 2 years work has been in progress on the second floor. With the efforts of organizations such as Forward Edge, Pray America, Covenant Foundation, various churches, numerous families and individuals, the work is nearing completion. PRAISE GOD.

 

At the start FUNPRONI was given several used house trailers which have served as homes for the family units at Casa Bernabe. These  have been a great blessing, but with the passage of time they have slowly deteriorated. Repairs have been done as needed.    However, the "days are numbered for all of the trailers."

 

This is why one of our priorities is to replace the trailers with large formal homes. Thanks be to God, the first of these homes has been constructed. A Mennonite church and the Howe family - both of Pennsylvania - financed this new building. Our vision is to construct 10 of these homes. We have one and only 9 to go.

 

Other projects we have planned are the construction of buildings for craftsmen, such as carpenters, mechanics, and others so as to be able to provide informal trade education for the children. One such building is for training in raising poultry. This building has been built and is now in use.

 

STRENGTHENING SUPPORT

All of our support groups are in need of strengthening. They are also constantly in need of being encouraged that they might be more effective in the work they do. Pray that these groups will be enlarged by more and more volunteers joining with them in this great work. Additional support groups are needed.
